Dear AmbaSat Community, 

Happy New Year! We hope you had a fantastic holiday season and are ready to launch into an exciting 2025. We have some important updates to share with you as we kickstart the new year. 

Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) Orbital Licence Submission 

After receiving approval on our CAA pre-application submission, we are excited to announce that January will mark the submission of our full Orbital Licence application. It’s been over a year in preparation, and this is our next significant step towards reaching Low Earth Orbit.    

The application process for approval by the CAA takes approximately nine months. All being well, we will be able to launch in Q1 of 2026. 

For those of you who have allocated launch slots onboard one of the AmbaSat launches, please look out for an email which will detail the return procedure for your AmbaSat-1 kit in preparation for the rocket launch. 

AmbaSat In-Orbit Demonstrator (IOD) 2026 Project 

Alongside the full orbital licence, we are pursuing an option for a hosted payload In-Orbit Demonstrator (IOD) for 2026. This project will feature our flagship 3U CubeSat loaded with up to 180 AmbaSat-1 ChipSats. This project will support SMEs in testing their technologies in space and drive STEM education globally.

STEM Outreach Highlights 

Our 10-week STEM outreach course continues to inspire and educate students worldwide. Recently, we welcomed over 100 students in the UK who are building and coding their own ChipSats, providing them with a hands-on experience in space technology. We’re proud to provide such a unique opportunity to engage with space technology at a hands-on level.
