Leadership

Martin Platt | Co-Founder & CEO

Martin leads AmbaSat’s strategic vision, driving the company from a bootstrapped concept to an ESA Business Incubation Centre alumni delivering sovereign orbital infrastructure. He has architected the company’s commercial model and regulatory pathway, transforming early prototypes into a scalable 3U platform that reduces the cost of space access by orders of magnitude.

Under his leadership, AmbaSat has secured critical partnerships with the UK Space Agency, Space Scotland and launch provider Skyrora. Martin is now focused on executing the first shared missions from Saxa Vord Spaceport, providing UK SMEs and research institutes with a streamlined route to flight heritage.

Khurram Hussain | Head of Operations

Khurram oversees the end-to-end delivery of AmbaSat’s 3U missions, managing the critical path from mission architecture and AIT (Assembly, Integration & Test) to launch integration. Combining technical acumen with commercial strategy, he leads payload mechanical design and supplier management, ensuring lean and reliable programme execution.

Crucially, Khurram manages AmbaSat’s regulatory interface with the UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), coordinating complex licensing and compliance submissions. As the primary stakeholder contact, his focus on rigorous risk management and process standardisation ensures that AmbaSat’s missions remain commercially viable and flight-ready.

Engineering Team

Ciara B. | Systems Engineer

Ciara works across systems engineering, regulatory compliance and technical assurance for AmbaSat’s spacecraft programmes. She has been closely involved in AmbaSat’s CAA satellite licensing work, helping to establish the engineering documentation, verification evidence and governance processes that underpin safe and compliant mission delivery. Her role also spans requirements, interfaces, verification and validation, and technical documentation across AmbaSat’s development programmes.

Joss Salton | Graduate Software Engineer

Joss works across software, firmware and systems integration for AmbaSat’s ESA-supported Nomadic Gateway project with Inotec Solutions. Since joining AmbaSat in June 2026, he has contributed to the Gateway system architecture, developed interface-board firmware in C/C++, built core Gateway logic in Python and created a lightweight FastAPI-based web interface. He is currently studying for a Master’s in Advanced Computer Science at the University of Leeds, with research interests in computational modelling of physical systems.

Daniel Ward | Graduate Systems Engineer

Daniel works across electronics design, systems engineering and verification for AmbaSat’s satellite and communications programmes. His work includes KiCad-based design and development of sensor and gateway electronics that form core elements of the ESA-supported Nomadic Gateway and Green Hydrogen projects. He also supports verification and validation activities, technical documentation and AmbaSat’s ongoing CAA satellite licensing work.

Consultants & Advisers

Glenn Jones CEnv MCIWM – Senior Consultant & Adviser

Glenn supports AmbaSat across strategic partnerships, commercial development and programme delivery. He currently plays a key role in the ESA-supported Green Hydrogen programme, acting as an interface with Fraunhofer and helping to manage technical, commercial and stakeholder requirements across the project.

Engineering Ecosystem & Standards

AmbaSat operates a lean, capital-efficient engineering model. We leverage a core team of embedded systems experts supported by a vetted network of UK-based aerospace contractors for RF, thermal, and vacuum validation.

We adhere to strict ECSS-aligned integration protocols. All payload assembly and fit-checks are conducted in a controlled environment, utilising ESD-safe workflows and rigorous acceptance testing prior to final handover to the launch provider.
