Well I'm now in the same boat:
I managed to proper solder/hot air hun the solar panels onto the PCB successfully.
But I failed trying to connect the 'upper'/side connector:
- I could not manage to create a non-shortcutting VCC to ground with any kind of spot or solder 'blob' (I checked before and after with a multimeter)
- In the process of fiddeling, it looks to me that i removed the golden coating from the upper soldering point - now no solder will stick.
So while the panels are not physically broken as described above i need at least 3 new panels - and would highly appreciate some pictures on how to 'bridge the gap' without shortcutting.
